Trevs VG Pacer

This is a 1970 VG Valiant Pacer that Trev recently acquired.
Gone is the standard 245 HEMI and 3-speed manual.  These have been replaced with a very mild 340 and shift-kitted 727 Torqueflite.
Trev plans to modify this car quite extensively in the aim of making it a bit competitive in the various motorsport events he enjoys participating in.
First on the agenda will be the ditching of the standard Borg-Warner differential and its drum brakes.  This will be replaced with a slightly shorter geared LSD with disc brakes.
The car will then be receiving some major attention in the suspension department with basically ripping out al the old stuff and either replacing or modifying/strengthening all the standard parts.  The car was only built to handle the power of a 245 HEMI so it has some serious trouble coping with a small block V8, even though the 340 is in a very mild state of tune.
The suspension work is to be undertaken by 'Pedders Suspension'.  Trev once helped Kevin Pedder out when he was searching for a nice E49 and Kevin is repaying the favour in full with organising the suspension work at extremely competitive prices to be done at their Cannington branch.
The brakes will also  be uprated to cope with their increased workload, decent brakes are a major advantage when competing in any motorsport events.

Trev has some big plans for this fairly tame VG Pacer.  It is to be modified to cope with some racing duties.  Mainly sprints/hillclimbs and motorkhanas than the straight-line drag stuff.

Have had the PACER for 5 days now so I thought a trip to the drags was in order.
I changed the plugs prior to the big 350 car cruise on Saturday night and the Pacer was running fairly smoothly when I fired her up on the Sunday morning.
Quickly found a small coke bottle to slide down next to the radiator to act as a radiator overflow catch-can so I could pass scrutineering.   I only done two runs, the best of which was a 15.23 at 92.68 mph.  The 15.2 was spot-on what I had predicted to my mates that it would run.  As I expected the 60 foot time was the killer; 2.514 second 60-foot times are extremely crap in anyone's book.  The 727 with standard convertor and long 2.92 gears making for a slug off of the mark.  This isn't what I am going to modify this car for, I am going to modify it as a circuit car, so these figures don't worry me too much.
